Admission Deadlines

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. To ensure the smoothest transition to Wells, we recommend submitting your application as soon as possible.

Admission Deadlines

All documents must be translated into English.

• All students living outside of the US and Canada are required to submit a World Education Services (WES) evaluation. WES evaluations determine how your grades compare to the U.S. education system. Applicants are responsible for paying all fees and arranging with WES to send and receive their documents.
  • Create your WES account and select the course-by-course evaluation option to ensure that your evaluation meets our requirements for admission review.
  • To ensure that Wells College receives an official copy of your evaluation, please select it from the drop-down box.
• One (1) letter of recommendation from your school counselor, headmaster or principal
• One (1) photocopy of your passport. Please copy only the page that contains your photo and information.
• One (1) Certificate of Finance. All international applicants must document their ability to meet all educational and living expenses for the first year of intended study before a Form I-20 visa eligibility certificate can be issued.
  • Please complete the COF form, and attach the appropriate proof of funding documentation, such as an official bank statement from the person(s) who will finance your U.S. education.
  • This statement must be in English and signed/stamped by a bank official. Currency should be in U.S. dollars. We do not accept pay stubs as proof of financial funding. We reserve the right to ask for more information or clarification on any submission.
• Demonstration of English Proficiency. If English is not your native language, you must demonstrate English proficiency by submitting official results of one of the following exams:
• TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Wells College requires a score of 80 or higher (Internet-based)
• IELTS (International English Language Testing System): Wells College requires a minimum score of 6.5
• PTE Academic: Wells College requires a minimum score of 55
• SAT scores can be submitted in lieu of the above exams only if your Evidence-Based Reading scores demonstrate adequate English language proficiency. Test scores must be submitted to Wells by the official testing agency, either electronically or by paper. Please be sure to designate Wells as the recipient of your test scores. The Wells College SAT code is: 002971 
• The Duolingo English Test: Wells College requires a minimum score of 100

Applicants whose native language/primary language of instruction is English: If you have completed your secondary education in English, speak English as a first language, or are from a country where English is the primary language, then you may not be required to submit English proficiency test scores. Please review the English Language Proficiency Testing Waiver Country List or email the Admissions Office to check if you are exempt.

International high school students in the United States: The English language proficiency testing requirement may be waived if you have attended at least two (2) years of instruction at a U.S. high school.

• AP scores (scores of 3, 4, and 5 are accepted)
• Unique Expression – tell us about yourself, so that we can get to know you in ways that your application and transcript cannot express. Some examples: a college essay, your résumé, a photography or art portfolio, video or written sample of your creative work.
