The Wells/Warner 4 + 1 Program
The Wells Education Program has developed a 4+1 program with the Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education at the University of Rochester.
The Warner Graduate School guarantees an automatic 30% reduction in tuition for all Wells students. This program, 4 years at Wells and 1 year at the Warner School, would result in a bachelor’s degree from Wells College and a master’s degree from the Warner School. This program would also meet all the academic requirements for obtaining Professional Teaching Certification from New York State.
All Wells education program students are welcome to apply to the 4 + 1 program. However, it is particularly well-suited for students who receive their initial certification at Wells and need a master’s degree for professional certification. It is also appropriate for students who choose to seek initial certification within a master’s program.
The Warner School is a professional school within the University of Rochester. It has an outstanding reputation and takes pride in its ability to offer small class sizes and plenty of individual attention. It offers master’s degrees in a number of areas including Inclusion/Disabilities, Early Childhood, Elementary Childhood, Literacy, TESOL and the key secondary academic subjects. This 4 + 1 program offers rich opportunities to obtain a second certification in a supporting area for those who complete their initial certification program at Wells.
