Faculty Accomplishments

Cynthia Garrett, Professor of English, Attended the Modern Language Association conference in Boston January 3-6, participating in a workshop on early modern women's manuscripts.

Jeanne Goddard, Professor of Dance, participated in a dance photography project with Ithaca fine art photographer, Jari Poulin, during the months of January and February. Professor Goddard recruited and collaborated with dancers from Cornell University, Binghamton High School, and the Ithaca community. A portrait of Professor Goddard and colleague Janice Kovar is currently on exhibit in a juried photography show at State of the Art Gallery in Ithaca.

Kent Klitgaard, Professor of Economics, published the following papers. The Sustainability paper (Heterodox political economy and the degrowth perspective) was presented originally at the "Degrowth in the Americas Conference in Montreal, May 13-19, 2012. The second paper (Ecological economics, degrowth, and institutional change written with Lisi Krall, Professor of Economics SUNY Cortland) was first presented at the Second International Conference on Degrowth, Barcelona, Spain March 26-29, 2010. The third paper (Degrowth and the social structure of accumulation) was presented at the 64th Annual Convention of the New York State Economics Association, Rochester, NY October 2011.

Christina Wahl, Associated Professor of Biology, taught microscopy and honey bee anatomy at the workshop "Honeybee Health: A Bee Wellness Workshop" presented by The Finger Lakes Beekeepers Club with generous support from the Cayuga Nature Center and Wells College. Wells science students assisted Professor Wahl in preparing handouts on honey bee anatomy and microscopic technique for beekeepers. Students also helped prepare laboratory materials for participants. Over 50 people attended the all-day workshop held at the Cayuga Nature Center on February 16.
