Experiential Learning and Career Services
Whatever the major you choose, a liberal arts education at Wells provides an excellent foundation for your entire career -- not just your first job out of college. We are serious about preparation for graduate and professional school and we are here to guide you throughout your entire time at Wells, and beyond.
The Office of Experiential Learning and Career Services is dedicated to helping students navigate the possibilities for hands-on learning, offering on-campus career preparation, and providing post-graduate advising and services. We help students locate internships, provide individual career counseling sessions, sponsor workshops, host graduate fairs, manage student employment, and connect student with a network of Wells graduates.
On-campus employment provides students with unique opportunities to hone their workplace skills; including flexibility, adaptability, and time management. Students who receive work study as part of their financial package may apply for student employment, and interview for positions which are suited to their professional interests or majors.
Experiential learning experiences allow students to apply course-based learning to situations outside the classroom, gain new perspectives, interact with others effectively, develop oral and written communication skills, and develop individual outcomes for specific learning experiences that are realistic, intentional, and measurable. Students are required to do two experiential learning while at Wells, which can include internships, intersession off-campus study, study abroad, and student teaching.
Students are provided both individual and group career counseling secessions to help students identify career goals and explore options for graduate and professional schools. Workshops on resume writing, job search strategies, networking, interviewing skills, and applying to graduate school are held regularly throughout the academic year.
